Ok found this new site that will allow me to post things we are doing in class, live lectures, videos, forums (chatroom), and more. In order for you to accesss it you need to log in with  my class code. This is a FREE site so no charges. Also if you are the student please get your parent's permission.

I am hoping that this makes what I am doing in the classroom more transparent (you are able to see at home). It says that if students have trouble with concept at home they can view the materials done in class (websites, documents, and videos used) to review or go over the information again.

As I get to know this program I will add more. Right now I have a forum up for rules and book recommendations. Please check this site out and I hope it turns out to be as great as I have seen it be used!

First week of School

Well it was a very busy week. I had all of my students all week and had 100% attendance!!! I didn't get ot finish setting up my class even after staying most nights to 6pm. I have Parent Orientation on Tuesday night so I hope I can finish most things by then.

I found a new way of getting in touch with students called Remind 101 that I am going to try if it is ok with the admin at school. It will allow me to send text messages to parents without me seeing their phone number or their seeing mine so I can send from my cell phone! To cool since sometimes I do work at home or forget to call parents before leaving and this way I can send a quick message like I will call you tomorrow or remind them of things like Parent Orientation.

Meet the Teacher~

I am still in the process of unpacking my stuff from the building (also moving it). I am pretty sure most of it will be ready for Friday when students come in to drop off stuff and meet me. I got my class list today! I am so excited to meet my new students and the students who were randomly put in my room from last year in 2nd. I am excited to work with them again this year and I have lots of new things planned so they won't be bored or feel like they did the same things.

Western theme stuff

Business cards (old and new), name badge (old, put in clip to wear for first day, first week bookmark, first day/important info bookmark, Parent Inventory, messenger and library passes. The old stuff was using Creative Delights Cowgirl/Cowboy kit and new stuff is using Yeehaw by One Scrappy Site (only $1.50!)

I made several out of scrapbook kits that I have. I am not done with the IN OUR CLASS poster. I am debating whether to make all same font and make certain words a different font/color/size. This is it for now. Tomorrow I have retreat for school and will be at school setting up room. I will make more as I get time.

Sign is done!!!

Here is the final result. I used nails that were too long so I had to bend them in the back. I will have to probably cover the end so not sharp but oh well they were the only ones I had! I will also need to add a few more rocks since the sign is heaver than I thought. Just a few to keep it upright rather than leaning against the back of the sign. What do you think of the We are at? The silver was too light so I went over it in blue metallic. I am not so sure about it. I may repaint and write in brown paint.

Ok all parts painted I just need to nail together. I laid it out so you can see how it will look. I turned out pretty good if I say so myself!!!

If you need cheap business cards, posters, signs, magnets, pens, shirts or other personalized stuff you have to  check out Vistaprint. Alot of the stuff is free (with limited editing options or purchase more options) and all you pay is shipping. Also the more you buy the more coupons, and free stuff they allow you to buy~ A lot of teachers use this stuff for class room things and here is what I have purchased. Once I get my first order and see class list I plan to maybe have the t-shirt I buy be availalbe to the class to purchase for shipping! I have to talk to the Queen of course to ok this but I think since optional it should be ok.

Sign almost done

Ok I finished most of the painting for the sign. I added metallic permanent marker to the letters and outside big stripes to make it more visible. I have a few more touch ups and the back to paint. Then I paint the stake, the we are at and attach all of the pieces!

Class Sign & workshop

I am trying to make my own sign for outside my door. I am going to paint it to make the fabric I bought to cover front of table. The fabrice is blue jean blue with light blue jean blue and olive and a light olive, which are in stripes  BB, LBB,O,LO and on each stripe is 2 thin stripes of matching color (if blue jean stripe is LBJ). Well I tried painting large stripes but lines are messy so I am going to try painters tape to get it cleaner and make the thin stripes since I couldn't do it with my thin brush. I will post picture once I have finished it. I will also put it on a stake and put that in a tall thin light blue tin bucket with handles full of rocks (the kind you see at Target/Walmart that are small but this is tall and thin). I plan to put underneath my name a little sign saying we are at and putting velcro and making little squares pictures to put up. I hope that this will be heavy enough to also be a door holder since I am in a portable this year and I plan to set this outside my door and bring in at end of day.

Yesterday went to cool workshop called Rock Your Classroom which Donna Vidal presented about adding music to your class. Wow great class! I have tons of songs now that I can use for morning music, beginnings, end of day/closure, traveling, motivation, thinking, and how to make songs for content area using nursery rhymes. I will post my playlists later once I have completed them! So cool!

3. Students saying he touched me/my desk or he looked at me!!!
4. Interupting me during directions to ask
    HOW DO WE DO THIS?????
5. Saying they didn't do their homework because forgot
    it at school when I ask everyday to get out homework folder
    before we line up.

Harry Potter here I come!

I am treating my Dad and Nephew to a movie for my Nephew's birthday. I am soooo excited to see how this story ends since I didn't read this book. Anyone else going? Stay tuned for a review!

How do you do that?

Ok I had a friend ask about how I got the groovy backgrounds and owls (this is a template I got which included all of that). It can be a little complicated so I am going to have a weekly how do you do that post for Blogger. Now this is ONLY Blogger since I don't know alot (or anything) about Wordpress. Blogger recently changed so some things I am still figuring out. And if you think I am Miss Know-it-all I learned this from other great bloggers who shared. So most posts will be linked from their posts. I will also share some tips I have found that have helped! So starting sometime this week I will have a how to add a background to Blogger!

Check out these sites to find a background or template for free! Most of these are scrapbook looking but there are some not so girly/scrappy.

Looky what I got!

Ok the school supplies are bought! I spent most of June/July looking for deals and I hope I got everything. Below are things which I bought for the class and me!

This is dollar store stuff. More dry erase markers, 3 timers I hope to use for math facts and reading fluency,  paper clocks, pencils, homework passes, notes from teacher, and some liner. I learned about this from another teacher. You can put this down on desks to prevent dice from making a lot of noise. I will try it and see.

These are from Staples. All of these were a $1!!

More Target stuff. Puzzle for the layers of the earth, mechanical pencils, stamp pads for my mini alphabet stampers for word work, phineas & ferb erasers, hand pencil top erasers, bandz, and glue (20 cents each!).

Ok originally bought the bags for the behavior folders but found out we will be using backpacks. Eh oh well I will find a use for these cute things! The pencils, cup holder w/photo section and little notepad I bought for my desk. I couldn't resist the colors and pattern lol.

More Staples things. Pencil top erasers, pencils again, and I finally found round labels! I will be printing I got 100 on spelling test for students to wear. Maybe something else too.

School supplies from Walmart before they went up! I got these alot cheaper than they are now. Not pictured are the 3 ring binders I plan to use for writer's notebook this year. The mini clips are cute and they had them even smaller but I thought it would be hard to write names that small or put a label that small on them. The hidden picture pad I think I will use for brain breaks and rewards.

Hobby Lobby these were $1.69 and on sale! I wish I had gotten more.

The Learning Zone stuff. I had a hard time finding western stuff this year. Not the same name plate but I actually like it better! I also picked up the wanted mini signs to put pictures on and hang in class. The little smiley face is a popper I want to try and use to get attention.

My first blog post for this blog!

Well I have decided on this cute owl design since our mascot is the owl. I will continue to add things to this as the summer progresses and I find things to say! Have a Happy Fourth of July and stay safe!
