Second Week of School

The school year is in full swing! I had morning duty last week so it was a very busy week. The first week of homework was done by about 1/2 the students. Remember that we are working toward points for the class goal! If we reach our goal we will have a 15 minute game time!

The coming week will be short due to Labor Day on Monday. There will be 1 less spelling and extra math page to do. Also the Raising Caine's Spirit Night will be Wednesday and I will be there from 4:30. It is on Bandera Rd near Hobby Lobby.

If you haven't sent me an email at my school email address: christina.dudley@nisd.net please do so I can send an invite to Bloomz a messaging system like Remind 101.

We have been having several brain breaks using gonoodle in class. If you haven't heard about it is awesome to get quick movement breaks that are fun. I have the free account so it is not tailored to our curriculum but the kids still like it. Some things we have done are Koo Kanga Roo Dinostomp and Ninja Warrior, Moose Raps, and YouTube songs. Click the picture to be taken to their site.

End of Summer and Blog Updates!

Well I am trying to organize my blogs (yes more than one) so that my book reviews for elementary and middle grade will be moved from my Lost in a Book Blog to this one so I don't have to do too many things. So if something doesn't work and it is related to a book review let me know!
With the explosion of Periscope and Instagram I will be adding info about those to my website and blog as well. I have been very busy watching and getting to know teachers all over the U.S. and World!!

New Year and hopefully more posts!

Well it is now January and I have been so busy moving from 3rd to 2nd (YES!!) that I haven't had much time to update my website or do the blog. So hopefully I will keep this up more consistently. Right now I will be adding the photos of what has been going on so far this year!

Hectic but Happy and Productive First Week

Well the first week went great! It was fun meeting the new students and saying hello to the ones that I saw while taking bathroom breaks with my students last year. We didn't get a lot of academics stuff done due to getting to know everyone, setting up the class, and practicing routines and procedures. This week we will start our regular schedule and academics despite the short week.

This Tuesday is Parent Orientation at 5:45. If you come please leave your child at home if possible since there will be limited room. I will be giving out homework passes to students whose parent or guardians show up!

I plan to use this blog to keep parents connected to what is going on in our class. I plan to have pictures, artwork, and other work posted if your consent was given. I also plan to have a class reporter/photographer so stay tuned for A Day in the Life of a Third Grade Student!

I also plan to add things done in class that students may want to see again such as the book trailers I will be posting below! Most of my book trailers come from Mr. Shu at Watch, Connect, Read.

Journey by Aaron Becker

New Book in the always popular Origami Yoda

From Kate DiCamillo

Magic Tricks from the Magic Tree House
This one came at a great time since I saw someone in class trying to do this trick! I also tried it on a friend of mine's son and he thought it was funny.

Crankenstein

I showed these because we were talking about how we choose books. This is one way many teens and I myself choose teen or children's books a lot of the time. We discussed how some were better than others and why (Like while Crankenstein is funny what is it about?).

Meet the Teacher~

I am still in the process of unpacking my stuff from the building (also moving it). I am pretty sure most of it will be ready for Friday when students come in to drop off stuff and meet me. I got my class list today! I am so excited to meet my new students and the students who were randomly put in my room from last year in 2nd. I am excited to work with them again this year and I have lots of new things planned so they won't be bored or feel like they did the same things.

If you are in my class and are reading my blog please leave a comment! I also have a poll going so vote for your choice.

My first blog post for this blog!

Well I have decided on this cute owl design since our mascot is the owl. I will continue to add things to this as the summer progresses and I find things to say! Have a Happy Fourth of July and stay safe!
